From the start, it never looked like Mark Pearson (A.K.A Dudley Strangeways) would stay rooted to the bedroom for long, and his talents led him from the inevitable party scene to the bars and clubs of Nottingham and Derby. He was soon lining up alongside the likes of D Ramirez at the notorious wreck-heads venue The Lost Weekend.Never one to rest on his laurels, Mark also took on the bitch-fight world promoting club nights. A couple of small but successful ventures ‘Shameless’ and ‘Electric Monkey’ followed, in which Mark played alongside local DJs in an effort to showcase Nottingham’s wealth of DJ talent and keep the purse strings under control. After deciding to put his money where his mouth was, Mark teamed up with his partner promotion Sam Philips, and ‘Back To The Future’ was formed with a nod towards acid heritage and Chicago old school, blended with the finest in upfront tech and deep house. The chequebook was open, and in rolled the guests: Eddie Richards, Terry Francis, Jay Tripwire, and Ben Annand to name but a few (with the mouthwatering prospect of Nathan Coles and Gideon Jackson to come). As well as promoting his own nights, Mark has played alongside DJs such as Annie Mac, Yousef, DJ Hal, MYNC Project, Dave Congreve (with many more to mention but it would just get a bit boring…) As part of Frakah, Mark takes on a wide range of genres, from breaks and tech house to electronica and beats. The first two singles (including the already released ‘Alive/Electrocity’ – 4/5 in Mixmag) are signed to Sound Of Spectrum records. Remixes for DJ Hal, Hexadecimal and Late Of The Pier are also in the pipeline. Their tracks have been featured on BBC Radio 1 and XFM as well as Missill’s DJ Mag mix CD. And so on to Mark’s latest creation, the deep and tech house mystery man that is Dudley Strangeways. Feeling a need to separate this side of his personality and musical output from his work with Frakah, Mark decided that an alter ego should be formed. The early stages of this project bode well, with several creations in the bag keep your eyes peeled for more additions. There has been interest from some prominent deep house labels, so watch for his work hitting vinyl soon.To book Dudley Strangeways (Deep/Tech/Acid House) or Mark Pearson (Frakah) (Breaks/Electro/House) or for licencing enquiries for any Dudley Strangeways or Frakah production please contact [email protected] or call (+44)7748 537000.www.frakah.com www.myspace.com/Frakah
