21of 25

Los Angeles Magazine recently named me one of the 25 Funniest People in Los Angeles. I was number 21. Johnny Knoxville was number 20, so he's one funnier. Of course, I never attached electrodes to my crotch like he did, but I would if it were tasteful and important to the plot.

I have voiced thousands of cartoons over the years. I'm also a local fixture on Los Angeles radio. I think I'm the only moderate female voice on talk radio , and have the distinction of being called "Un-American" by Sean Hannity. So I got that going for me.

My Web Site

I started aprilwinchell.com about six years ago, as a way to help promote my radio show on KFI. Then I got fired.

To my surprise, the site just kept getting more popular. In fact, the Guardian called it "One of the hottest sites on the internet", which means almost nothing.

Not having an actual job, I kept adding things like videoblogs and podcasts. I envisioned a Valhalla of mediocrity, where people could spend hours of their lives they would never get back.

Now it's a veritable motherlode of marginal entertainment. There are hundreds of hours of archived radio shows from KFI all the way up to KABC, where I still can be heard twice a month on Friday nights.

And if that's not enough, and it never is with you people, I boast one of the most hellish collections of bad music on the internet. I have hundreds of foul MP3s that are yours for the taking. Seriously, if you ever need Johnny Cash singing in German or Icelandic Nirvana covers, I'm your girl.

Stop by when you're feeling masochistic.

My Interests

Sleeping in the toy box.

I'd like to meet:

Music:

The weirder the better. Check my web site for Nirvana covers from all over the world, Beatles songs in German, television stars who should really not be singing, heavy metal covers by Pat Boone, Zsa Zsa Gabor rapping, and my favorite, Kentucky Fried Chicken training tapes. Finger licking good!

As far as good music goes, my tastes are eclectic. I like Paul Oakenfold, Thievery Corporation, Ursula 1000, Groove Armada, Fatboy Slim, Talking Heads, Ella Fitzgerald, Dinah Washington, Count Basie, Francis Albert, Louis Prima, Tosca, Alex Gopher, Bob Wills, Johnny Cash, Cliff Carlisle, Dusty Springfield, Herb Alpert, Mel Torme, The Moog Cookbook, Perez Prado, Senor Coconut, Kraftwerk, US3, Xavier Cugat and of course, Sammy Davis, Jr. (the 70's Sammy with the stacked heels and 4" cigarette ash).

Movies:

Favorite movie of all time: The Apartment.

I also love Brazil, Reservoir Dogs, Kill Bill, Blood Simple, Pulp Fiction, Clockwork Orange, Full Metal Jacket, Sean of The Dead, Fight Club, Being John Malkovich, Sex, Lies and Video Tape, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Pieces of April, Napoleon Dynamite, Run, Lola, Run, This Is Spinal Tap, Waiting for Guffman and Blue Velvet, to name a few.

Television:

I have an abnormal appreciation for all things marginal, so naturaly, I list Quincy, M.E. among my all-time favorite shows. I've seen every episode at least ten times. I know people are fond of calling it "The original C.S.I.", but I think that's inaccurate. I think Quincy was the orignal C.S.I. Miami. A subtle distinction, but an important one.
