About Me


The Grey Scare is a crew (no, we're not a formal group-- more like a collective) of likeminded artists including emcees, poets, producers, DJs, singers, b-boys and visual artists based out of Madison Wisconsin, with affiliates in Chicago and New York. Composed of DJ Pain 1, el guante, MC Starr, Memory, DJ Kres, DJ Toki, Stryfe and God-des & She, the Grey Scare is one of the more diverse and unique crews in the Midwest, with music that definitely reflects that.
You can get lots of free tracks here, on our respective myspace pages and on our respective official websites. You can also buy our albums: MC Starr, DJ Pain 1, el guante, Memory, God-des and DJ Kres all currently have albums for sale, and a big crew compilation project is in the works too. The "Grey Summer" mixtape is out now as well, available for FREE at shows.
We've played a lot of shows in the past few years, from God-des and Pain on the Warped Tour, to opening slots for Talib Kweli, Brother Ali, Zion I, Immortal Technique, Capital D, Percee P and others, to every club, coffeehouse and performance space in Madison, and now we're just trying to put in the work necessary to keep elevating.
