About Me

Southpaw is the name for the musical output of Robert WJ Watt. Robert was born in Vancouver, BC Canada and relocated to Montreal, QC in the Fall of 2007 where he wrote an abundance of songs that he hopes will become an EP someday. Taking musical notes from lo-fi acts such as Hayden, Neil Young and Bright Eyes, Robert has developed somewhat of a unique musical styling and a very unique voice which has been garnering him praise for years. He began playing music at the young age of 11 and has been recording his original music since he was 13 years old.
Now aged at 25, Robert has recorded a brand new selection of songs which together are known as ’The Hummingbird’, named after his acoustic guitar. The record was pre-produced in an EP session with fellow Vancouver musician and friend, Joel Battle and was recorded entirely in his parents basement in suburban Vancouver. Robert performed and arranged every aspect of the recordings, much as he has always done throughout his musical career.
Live, Southpaw is comprised of a medley of talented Vancouver musicians that Robert has shared the stage with over his 10 year performing career.
