The February March

About Me

Press
"Street Signs" which starts this CD is about or, was inspired by Vancouver's homeless, so right away you know this band is sensitive. Smart, too... Chiming guitars, ringing piano, great vocals, (lead and background) make The February March a cut above the average,"
The Province 2006
“The February March does its hometown proud with a blend of guitar-based anthemic rock ("Pins and Needles") and piano-driven art-pop ("The Animals"). There's even a skinny-tie-'80s throwback in the form of "Charlie", which boasts a knockout chorus that the Killers would, well, kill for…when the energy is high, the February March definitely knows what a hook is and how to use one.”
The Georgia Straight 2007
"Listening to the title track of their latest album, City of Glass, kick ass describes every aspect of their music."
The Pique 2007
Bio
The February March has taken another big step forward with their new album "City of Glass"
. With backing from the Swiss label B&C Entertainment, the Vancouver four-piece, previously named "Formula" recorded the album in February and March 2006 with producer Mark Henning. "City of Glass" is a collection of 11 songs ranging from the gritty, Springsteen-esque Street Signs, to the organ-drenched epic Something Easy.
The album is the product of six months of hard work holed up in an attic in the Vancouver suburbs where the band wrote 50 songs, only selecting the best for recording.
When it came to the lyrics, Joel, a devout but modest Christian, tackled some difficult personal experiences such as the despair of seeing friends, family members, and fellow down-town east side Vancouverites succumb to drug addiction.
"City of Glass is about people and relationships. A lot of the songs deal with the fallout of addictions. But they're definitely not depressing or angry songs. They're about hope, change, and learning from mistakes." Joel says.
The February March has over the years hit the stage at the Telus World Ski and Snowboarding Festival in Whistler, New Music West, The Western Canadian Music Awards, and opening for the succesful Canadian band "Hedley". Also, under the name "Formula", the band received regular rotation on local radio station 99.3 The Fox, making the top 5 with their song "Race of the rozier" a track from their first EP "Terror and Romanticism" The track also made appearances on Torontos 104.9 The Edge , and Vancouver islands "The Q"
"City Of Glass" has recieved rotation from CFox
, CBC1 & 2 , The Q live performances on TV Show and has Seven songs from the album featured on the CTV Series "Whistler".
