These songs echo the plight of the everyman. They speak of hope, love, heartbreak, and the winds of change. The lyrics paint beautiful landscapes about the Canadian prairies and they sympathize with less fortunate souls who have been forced to live on Vancouver's streets.
Joel is a Canadian singer/songwriter based in Vancouver, BC. He has released two CDs in the past with his previous bands, The February March and Formula. Formula's "race of the rozier" cracked vancouver's 99.3 cfox radio stations top 5. The February March achieved some success with their song "street signs" a song about vancouver's homeless in the down town east side. It was a regular favourite on CBC's radio 2, and was featured in ctv's "whistler" television series, as well as six other tracks from their "city of glass" album.
As a solo artist, Joel Battle is redefining himself and his music. He quietly released an EP titled ‘Battlefields’, recorded in 2007 in his apartment while living in Vancouvers down town east side. It is a personal collection of songs that seem to grapple with the spiritual aspect of hearbreak. Since then he has assembled a new band, including country singer Karly Warkentin. The band will head to a ranch to record in May to pick up where ‘Battlefields’ left off. The new recording is scheduled for release in Summer 2009.
