About Me

I am one of two dancers for the wonderful and inspirational Govinda. Govinda is Shane O, Yasmin and Mirabai. Together they create a mystical and trance-inducing state of bliss on stage. The sensual and modern movements of Yasmin and Mirabai inspire a spiritually ecstatic experience while Shane O draws smooth and haunting melodies from his violin. This multi-sensory experience drops divinely erotic beats and textures to entice mad dancing and booty shakin.I was trained in classical Indian dance, Kathak, and have been studying with my dance teacher from Mumbai, Shila Mehta for 9 years but I have been doing it for 15. I also mix in a little bit of Belly Dancing, Hip Hop, and Modern, and you get the Mirabai mix...it's all improvisational but the point of my dance is to tell the story of what the music means, so that audience is able to feel what I am feeling.I also work with Carmen Rizzo from time to time and I have had the honor to do shows with artists such as his amazing tabla player Satnam, Basenecter, Thievery Corporation, Mike Hiratzka, Husky Rescue, DJ Manny and Exstus of Austin. I have to say it's such a blast to do. I have to say that Govinda's music is something unlike most, absolutely beautiful and without his music and friendship in my life I dont know what I would do...I feel so blessed to be apart of his and his amazing fiances' world...And so onto other things...What can I say, I love how you can do nothing but brag about yourself on this site and everyone eats it up, so that said...I love fashion and music, they are my drive and if I had it my way I would be sitting in a small apartment in Florence cooking a vegetarian dinner (cause I was raised veggie and I love it) with all the windows open listening to music...and I would end the evening painting, or dancing around in my room when I know no one is watching...cause its what I do, and if there is a beat then I am always moving...Also, shyama is the coolest girl in the world.

My Interests

I love dancing, daydreaming, music, the ocean, swimming, sleeping in hammocks, sand between my toes, the breeze on my skin, mountains, and the mountain air, running through meadows, dipping my toes in cold spring water, blowing dandelion flowers, fixing things, cooking, everything about traveling, my friends, love, fashion, fonts, painting, drawing, photography, graphic design, illustration, creating things, making jewelry, good movies, and some bad ones, and just living life.

My favorite show is Arrested Development, (why do they always have to cancel the best shows?) and I don't really watch my TV but I also like, Project Runway, Family Guy, Futurama cracks me up, Best Week Ever and the Daily Show for my news, and of course Southpark.

Books:

My favorite book is, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, and some of my other favorites are, FRUITS (those bad ass little dressers), Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, you know that old chestnut, I'm in the process of reading Everything is Illuminated, and I like anything that is clever, witty or fantasy...the truth is by the time I am done reading for class I don't really wanna read much more...oh well...
