About Me

Roz just eats fish and plants now. During school she tried her hand at a few different instruments and did some singing and dancing too. After getting a taste for performance from engaging in the usual preliminary stagecraft activities, she decided to leave before year 12 started and bum around for a year, stealing oranges with the local skating crowd and thinking about nothing in particular, before heading to Goulburn in 1999 to party with cowboys and study contemporary music.During this time she worked nights in a couple of Irish pubs and clubs who hosted live music, and this worked rather well with the inspiring studies she was undertaking during the day with Michael Barkl and Kjell Goyer at Goulburn TAFE. While pulling Guinness and chatting to strange travelling men, she kept her ears open, listening to all of the bands who played over in the corner. At the end of 1999 she came back to Sydney with a lust for more listening. She got a job which paid high wages just so that she could afford to go to gigs after work. She moved to the Sutherland Shire, worked in Martin Place and moseyed around at night, watching jazz, blues, funk and different kinds of electronica. She continued to love her rock, but seeing artists such as the late-great Jackie Orzacsky and Vince Jones was revolutionary.2001 saw the arrival of her treasured daughter Chelsea, and the next few years were spent trying to insert her fingers into as many pies as possible, and earning a few bucks in cafes. There's lots of pies in cafes. In 2005, Roz realised she wasn't very good at making coffees. She consequently decided to get an Adv.Dip. in Music and finish what she started back in '99. She graduated at the end of 2007, scooping up an APRA-sponsored award for excellence in composition on her way out. It's in her undies drawer now.She plays some covers at lots of places lots of the time, and bass guitars and voices and things like that for other people some of the time. People like you, and me, and Rupert Reid. You should check it out.Myspace Images

My Interests

Music:

Band Members: It's just me, really. Wanna play some stuff together? *passes you a triangle*
Influences: I'm influenced by musical friends and mentors, and all the new things I'm hearing every day (at the moment I'm really digging the European/Nordic kinda sound... you know... the Knife and Royksopp), and all the different music I listen to regularly, just because I love it, like Beck, Nick Cave, lots of different music from France, Gotye, Kurt Elling, John Lennon, the Beatles (of course), Bjork, Tool, Jeff Buckley, Custard, Nina Simone, Led Zeppelin, Crowded House, Nat King Cole, Elliot Smith, Feist, Cat Power, Incubus.... I mean... you get it, right? Everyone should listen to everything and allow themselves to be musically shaped by it if that's what the music wants to do.
