i was an italian conceptual artist, working with ideas and directions which came to be known, a few years after my death in 1963, as arte povera.
my work demonstrated that the human body is a valid art medium, as is the earth itself. i have also shown that an unpainted surface can be a painting. and i famously verified kurt schwitters' assertion that 'everything the artist spits is art' by taking a shit in 90 tin cans and selling them at the price of gold.
