About Me



Theresa Lobato, daughter of Emma Espinoza of Emma's Hacienda has now opened a new restaurant in San Luis, Colorado. For over 30 years, Theresa cooked the food loved by so many. Theresa now brings to you the family recipes, along with new dishes, at La Mesa Restaurant in San Luis.

Please join us for one of our house combination plates, Smothered burritos, tacos or a sopapilla sundae.

OVER 50 YEARS AGO, IN SAN LUIS, THE OLDEST TOWN IN COLORADO, EMMA ESPINOZA BEGAN MAKING RED CHILE & HAMBURGERS TO SERVE TO CUSTOMERS IN EL PATIO INN. EL PATIO WAS RUN BY EMMA’S HUSBAND, JOE ESPINOZA (LONG TIME MAYOR OF SAN LUIS). THE RESTAURANT WAS LATER EXPANDED TO THE SOUTH END OF THE BUILDING & EMMA'S HACIENDA WAS BORN.
THROUGHOUT THE YEARS, EMMA WORKED WITH HER DAUGHTERS AND GRANDCHILDREN TO MAKE EMMA’S WHAT IT IS TODAY. EMMA’S HACIENDA IN SAN LUIS WAS REGRETTABLY CLOSED IN THE SPRING OF 2006.
TODAY IN 2008, THERESA LOBATO, EMMA’S DAUGHTER, WHO COOKED AT THE RESTAURANT FOR OVER 30 YEARS, HAS OPENED A NEW RESTAURANT IN SAN LUIS, CALLED LA MESA
THE FOOD YOU ATE GROWING UP IN SAN LUIS, OR WHILE MAKING THAT SPECIAL TRIP THROUGH SAN LUIS JUST TO GET A BOWL OF GREEN CHILE & SOPAPILLAS IS NOW BEING SERVED AT LA MESA IN SAN LUIS. WE ARE LOCATED NEXT TO THE TEXACO STATION, WHERE MRS RIOS RESTAURANT WAS PREVIOUSLY LOCATED. WE LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING OUR OLD FRIENDS AND CUSTOMERS, AS WELL AS MAKING NEW FRIENDS.
