Marta Laurens

Paris-based R&B vocalist Marta Laurens is a singer songwriter with songs inspired by her various multi-cultural influences. Although her music is piano-based, the arrangements bring a fresh new sound, culling from pop, R&B, soul & jazz, with her breathy and subtle vocals and dynamic melodies easy to sing along.
Marta Laurens was born in Italy and raised in France. Growing up surrounded by traditional Italian songs that her father and grandfather sang in their respective bands. American pop culture became a strong influence with singers such as Lionel Ritchie, Michael Jackson, and Stevie Wonder who were cherished by her mother.
Marta started her debut scene at an early age of six with school dance performances. Her love for music began at eleven when she first started playing the electronic organ. In her teenage years, she ventured out into talent shows and many dance and music school performances. At fifteen she wrote her first song on the piano and has never stopped since.
Later on she travelled to Chicago, where she performed on different local stages, and was eventually noticed by different independent record labels and producers with her first demo. Among them, the talented L.A. based music producer Scott Mathews (The Beach Boys, David Bowie, Johnny Cash, Eric Clapton, Elvis Costello, Carlos Santana, Patti Labelle, Barbra Streisand...) who described her as an artist with “great songs, an individual voice, great pipes, and an identity.”
After working for major record companies and independent labels, Marta has since expanded her knowledge in music business and songwriting becoming an artist who is definitely worth checking out.
