About Me

Feel free to visit my blog - http://ancient-chinese-secret.blogspot.com/.Otherwise...just an average dude trying to meet new people and involve myself in the world a bit more than I sometimes have. I'm a little shy, but friendly. I like bars, but I don't drink. I stay fairly active, but don't work out quite enough. I prefer cats over dogs, loud music more often than not, cold weather over hot weather, nice people more than smart people, cereal instead of dessert....though that doesn't mean I don't like all of the above from time to time. And I try to do some soul-searching on occasion. Still haven't found one, though...

My Interests

Music, animals (especially volunteering with Dallas's only no-kill shelter - www.dognkittycity.org), nature, travel, art, history, humor, tattoos, fruit, baseball, trying my damndest to destroy our two-party political system (or at least reform it to the point where folks outside the monopoly can participate), vegetarian stuff (whatever that might be), irreverance, other typical flaky-liberal stuff

I'd like to meet:

Like-minded folks. Non-like-minded folks. Just....minded folks, basically.

Music:

Current shit: Biffy Clyro, anything featuring Kristin Hersh, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Bjork, Aimee Mann, Meat Puppets, Public Enemy, QOTSA, Radiohead, Neil Young, Starlight Mints, The Sword, Steve Earle, QOTSA, Aimee Mann, anything featuring Mike Patton, Sonic Youth, PJ Harvey, Bobby Bare Jr., Kylesa, Slayer, Trish Murphy, System of a Down, Melvins, Cafe Tacuba, Tool, anything featuring Jay Farrar, These Arms Are Snakes, Sepultura, Autolux, Deftones, Damnations, Motorhead, Tartufi, the Championship, Helmet, White Stripes, Prong;Old shit: Husker Du, The Clash, X, Nirvana, Pink Floyd, Pixies, Kyuss, Black Sabbath, Fugazi, Basehead, L7, Sleater-Kinney, Rolling Stones, Bikini Kill, Prescott Curlywolf, the Beatles, Slint, Jimi Hendrix, the Jesus Lizard, Jason & the Scorchers, Screaming Trees, Kris Kristofferson, Concrete Blonde;Local(ish) shit: Pleasant Grove, Baptist Generals, Red Monroe, Doug Burr, Eaton Lake Tonics, Deathray Davies, Record Hop, Kristy Kruger, Dove Hunter, Blackheart Society, the Paper Chase, Sarah Jaffe

Movies:

Dancer in the Dark, Requiem for a Dream, Thelma and Louise, Boogie Nights, Magnolia, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Fargo, Dr. Strangelove, Caddyshack, The Naked Gun

Television:

I have no idea what's even on anymore. I do love "Cops," thought. And "Man vs. Wild" and "Miami Ink" are pretty cool.

Books:

I read mostly boring non-fiction stuff. Also a devoted reader of National Geographic and The Sun (www.thesunmagazine.org) magazines. You must check those out, people.

Heroes:

I prefer to think of them as people I admire....Kurt Cobain, Carl Sagan, Janis Joplin, Thom Yorke, Abbie Hoffman, Albert Einstein, Iggy Pop, Steve Earle, Noam Chomsky, Bjork, John Singer Sargeant, Chuck D, Ralph Nader, the folks at Creativity Explored (www.creativityexplored.org), the folks at Best Friends in Utah (www.bestfriends.org)

for you politically-minded Dallas area folk...

I've never watched reality shows. Well, "Miami Ink" is pretty good, but I never remember it's on because it's on some network I always forget about. And Ozzy's show was great for a while. But other th...
