About Me

Olympic 48 formed in Feb 2007 for fun, creativity, noise and to entertain bringing together a love of new wave and Indie Rock. The name Olympic 48 finally came when a friend brought his camper van to a rehearsal funny enough the name of the van was Olympic 48.In 1996 Jer, studge and marge were members of the Indie Funk/Rock band Rapid along with keyboard player Ivor Morgan and drummer Lee Manns.Rapid were a hard /smooth outfit crossing the line between The Chilli Peppers, The Fun Lovin Criminals and Happy Mondays. After a good gigging spree around the UK the band failed to grasp the record deal they tried hard for and finally dispanded in 1999. All the band members moved on to form new musical ventures Marge played bass with the mighty Summer Bullets, studge played guitar with the covers band Dirk Spangle Five, Ivor formed The Honey Buzzards Lee rejoined 40 Ounce and Jer went onto session vocals. After a long time apart Studge, Jer and Marge decided to have a jam over old material with new drummer Sam Wheale to see how it sounded and felt. Straight away the music magic started and a new set of songs and a new musical direction unfolded. After six months of reheasring it finally came together Olympic 48 were ready to gig with a set of powerful songs.
