Anti-podes are a four piece alternative rock band from the Forest of Dean. These guys, through a mutual interest in Rock n' Roll and making a lot of noise, got together in the summer of 2005 and formed a band with the aim of writing original and honest rock songs.
They started strongly and attracted a following from the begining. Their first gig at the Woodlands in Cinderford was packed out with over 150 people, the atmosphere was amazing, full of anticipation and excitment. The boys didn't dissappoint and had the crowd chanting the name of the band for endless encores.
Since then Anti-podes have gone from strength to strength. They have gigged across Gloucestershire, South Wales and Herefordshire, and played numerous gigs in Birmingham. Always with their loyal following there to see yet another show. Each gig has bought praise for the band, from Robin's insightful lyrics and emotion filled vocals to Neil's quirky melodic lead guitar playing. Bev and Martin have also been described by some as the tightest rythym section in the Forest.
The past year and a half has seen Anti-podes really develop their songwriting craft and musical style. Their debut EP "Blue Green Yellow Green" was released in September 2007. The three songs on the EP have a lot more edge and energy than the band's previous material and has been praised by local press, radio and fans.
In June 2008 Anti-podes entered and won their first Battle of the Bands competition in Monmouth. Out of over 70 bands that entered Anti-podes came top due to votes from fans and from the judges panel. As part of the prize for winning, Anti-podes played on the main stage of the Monmouth Festival 2008 supporting Killing For Company.
The second part of the prize for winning the Battle of the Bands competition was three days recording time at the legendary world famous Monnow Valley Studio. November 2008 saw Anti-podes record two tracks there with producer/engineer Jim Anderson. These tracks have seen interest in the band escalate from fans and music industry contacts alike. Upcoming gigs from Anti-podes will be very exciting with gigs being planned mainly in Bristol and Cardiff and also across the UK. Anti-podes would love to see you at a gig near you soon.
Anti-podes would like to say a big thank you to all the fans and those who have helped and continue to help and support us with rehearsals, gigs, recordings, bookings and management. Cheers guys, Anti-podes.
