Angela began playing the Saxophone at age 10. At 16 years of age she was awarded her A.Mus.A on Alto, and won the Darling Downs Concerto Competition.In 2003, at 17 years of age, Angela was accepted into the QLD Conservatorium of Music. During this time she was lead alto of John Hoffman's Big Band the 'Con Artists' for three years and was awarded the Griffith Award for Academic Excellence in 2003, 2005 and 2006. In 2006, Angela graduated with first class honours, writing her dissertation on 'A study of innovative improvisation within traditional structures, through the brief analysis of the solos of Michael Brecker, Kenny Garrett and Dale Barlow.'In July 2006, Angela travelled to Europe to attend the Amsterdam/Manhattan Summer Workshop, where she was able to study with saxophonist Dick Oatts, pianist Gary Dial, and arranger Michael Abene.So far Angela has recorded with Don Burrows, Kevin Hunt, Jim Pugh, Graeme Lyall, John Hoffman, Steve Newcomb and Joe Chindamo. She has performed at the Melbourne International Women's Jazz Festival, the Sunshine Coast Jazz Festival, the Bundaberg Jazz and Blues Festival, the Valley Jazz Festival, the Brisbane Festival and the Bangalow Jazz Festival."An instinctively melodic approach" THE AGE.
