I guess just saying yes is not an answer. I thought that both Babel and Crash were over rated. I loved Walk the Line, hated Ray. Anything directed by Clint Eastwood deserves a look. John Cusack, Kate Winslet, Kevin Spacey, Kenneth Branagh. . . all fair game. . .
Of course all of the really good shows have gone off the air, like Babylon5, Red Dwarf, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Firefly, Angel, Love Monkey, ST:TNG and ST:DS9 and Chef. That said, Greys Anatomy, Sopranos, How I Met Your Mother, House, Bones, Numb3rs and just about anything on the History Chanel
Most anything about the American Civil War. The Silence of the Lambs, Frankenstein, The Last Man, Fathers and Sons, Shogun. Peter Straub has resurfaced in my reading as had Rita Mae Brown. Frank O'Reilly's articles and books are also key.
