Sleepy Hollow
[R] (1999)
Steve says: "One of my favorite movies. Very few movies have every caught the 'feel' and 'tone' of the Halloween season like Sleepy Hollow. Gotta love Tim Burton."
Creepshow
[R] (1982)
Steve says: "Good old classic in my opinion. Has all the elements needed for a great movie. It's funny, scary and has Tom Savini's monster artistry. "
Hellraiser
[R] (1987)
Steve says: "Blood, guts, mythical creatures, Heaven, Hell, puzzles... okay... I need to watch this again, right NOW!!!"
The Exorcist
[R] (1973)
Mike says: "The concept of demonic possession in a young female child was not as scary as it was disturbing, scenes in the original movie where awesome with regard to special effects for the era the movie was made in."
Nightmare on Elm Street
[R] (1984)
Mike says: "Then there's A Nightmare on Elm Street. The movie's theme of a nightmare bringing life to a serial child murderer was original, and the special effects where blended into the story line flawlessly. A great movie that really didn't scare you but made you feel uneasy mentally. This was a great movie with regard to playing with one's mind."
Halloween
[R] (1978)
Mike says: "I couldn't finish my picks with out mentioning the movie Halloween. This movie was a combination of sudden scares, tension and simple but great musical score that supported what was taking place on the screen."
Killer Klowns From Outer Space [PG-13] (1988)
Nick says: "A whacky take on circus clown aliens invading earth, this film is a riot to watch with friends. Average effects, and a low budget add to the nostalgic value of the corny, and entirely random, script. With a cool soundtrack and a fun vibe, this movie rocks!"
Martin
[R] (1977)
Nick says: "An interesting script refuting many classic vampire tales, Martin stands in an eery gothic genre of it's own. Romero and Savini pre-Dawn era, this film started it all. From splatter effects to cheesy stage blood soaked sheets, Savini's first kick at the can originated the modern day Romero-style gore fest."
Cursed: Unrated Version
[U] (2005)
Nick says: "Almost a comedy rather than a horror flick, this film showcases Wes Craven's ackward ability to integrate laughter with his gore-filled, high budget, horror blockbusters. A modern twist on old werewolf tales, Cursed actively untilizes CGI technology, as well as classic hand-applyed effects, giving the viewer a full spectrum of terror."
