About Me

So the new track is from a band I was in called Extra Life a few years ago. The band (though excellent) didn't last very long. Anyways, though the recording was done with a single room mic, you can still hear and dig the sound we were into at the time. I played the upright/electric Zeta bass, and and I am totally missing the other people on the recording: Mike Brown (drums), Kim Nauman (vocals), and Marc Hager (keys)
I found these to be rather important videos:
For this one, the sound is kinda bad for the first two minutes or so, but then is okay:
This one has some language, just warning ya, but it's just George Carlin telling it like it is: http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article18690.htm

I'm Josh Metz, a.k.a. DJ Goodness. I'm an accomplished bassist and laptop musician. I've been playing electric bass in bands since I was 15, playing many different styles of music. I've played in blues bands, funk, rock, country, pop bands, cover bands... I was in an electronica band called Lotion doing some freaked out live dance music. Also studied James Jamerson 's Motown sound and technique. Also played the Bach cello suites and some of Bach's piano inventions on the 4-string electric bass. A couple years ago I finally bought an upright bass too, and I've been studying jazz.
What you hear on this site is the culmination of my musical experience thus far in my life, channeled through a unique style and a brand new musical instrument: the computer ! I think a lot of musical purists might have a problem with a computer being given the same status as say, a violin. There was a time when I would have agreed, but I'm beginning to change my mind about that. The computer offers so many sonic possibilities, and you get out of it exactly what you put into it, just like any other instrument. It takes discipline and skill to make good music, no matter what the medium.
I have learned that MIDI only happens if you stop looking and just be yourself.

Cream Pony

Featuring Dave Revelli on dunbek

For "Unfold", I used a sample of David Revelli on dunbek. Like a nice coffee table book, it just pulled the whole thing together. It's just what Seattle musicians do. Thanks David!  For more of ...

The Sexiness of McGoo

I don't know why but Mr. McGoo fit so well into 'Dat's Right', but he did. It's actually kind of entertaining. You see, I loved Mr. McGoo, and man it just makes for great ear-candy. An almost-interes...

Down Tempo Set

So I'm working on this down-tempo set on the laptop. I'm planning on incorporating the upright bass into it too - just bought a rather expensive pickup for that very reason. So to this end I've record...
