Why Do We Do These Events?
We do these talent showcase networking events to help each talent involved get exposed to people we know in the industry (designers, photographers, major record label people, radio, etc). The more well known the models and talent in the event, the greater the share of the event revenue after the expenses. So we spend quite a bit of money to bring attention for everyone involved. And of course, we want everyone involved to have fun and network better.

Summary Tips for Aspiring Independent Models
As you know, the modeling industry is an extremely competitive business, and there are only a few gigs that pay enough to make it worthwhile for agencies and independent models. thus, with so many models chasing so few gigs, agents in general have no choice but to be selective. what makes things more complicated is that younger models (15-25 age group) are seen as having an 'entitlement' mentality, meaning they feel that opportunities will just fall in their laps because they deserve it. I've had a top modeling industry expert tell me this, and our staff has observed that when we've had auditions and model calls in the past. When 'America's Top Model' came to Dallas in August 2005, hundreds of models came out, with very long lines in the sweltering Dallas summer heat. But because of the 'entitlement' mentality being so pervasive, the model scouts for the world renown modeling agency doing the screening said only a handful (less than 5) had any potential and did not have that 'worship me' attitude.
So the first tip for all aspiring models is to be humble and study the history of the modeling industry and fashion photography from the 1940s through today. You'll prove to yourself if you're truly motivated for this business if you take an interest in those who helped build the industry you love. Second, although it is generally understood that aspiring models do not need to take professional pics to be discovered, it is good to at least use a good digital camera and some basic lighting skills to get some pretty good pics of yourself. Agents and scouts are humans, too. Just like A&R executives in the music business tend to favor professionally produced and engineered demos over home recorded songs, likewise agents and scouts will tend to favor great looking pics. So find a friend who is good with a camera (4+ megapixel digital cameras are easier and faster to work with), or hire a reputable photographer. We have many here on our friend list.
If you already have pics, go to www.samsona.com/faca and click Sign Up. Once you complete the page, you'll receive an email confirmation. reply to that confirmation with 5 of your best pics. with the info plus the pics, we'll check you out and give you an opinion free – just ask when you reply with the pics as our staff is swamped at times. In general, it is more difficult for plus sized models to find gigs (though Monique is doing some great things in awakening the industry to plus size models), but if you are curvy and proportionate, that makes it easier. Like anything you want badly in life, be patient and persistent, and be prepared to help shape and influence the industry thru other means to get attention. Monique needs more people like her to make a difference, so perhaps you can start a website or local TV show to help give a voice to models who don't have that typical classic runway look. We have two categories of models besides the classic: Curvy and Hourglass. Even for plus sized models, we still require them to be proportionate and easy to look at - not just any plus sized model can be Hourglass.
Finally, don’t forget that not every person is going to be a successful model. This business is run by ‘looks’ and ‘luck’. That’s the reality. But if you follow the above tips, you’ll definitely increase your chances of success in this business, and we’re here to do what we can to help you take advantage of the vast network of industry insiders we have. Cheers, and best wishes.

Words of Wisdom For Models
John the CEO says "With great beauty comes great responsibility. As a model, you are blessed to have the opportunity to influence others with you natural beauty and attractiveness. Portray ourself in a positive light where your photos are respectable, sophisticated, classy imagery that exudes confidence, poise and grace. That's the FACA way."
Do You Have a Public Relations Strategy as an Aspiring Model
How do you portray yourself to the public, and what is the lasting, permanent image you want the world to remember you by? What is your lasting legacy as a model? How you behave right now, including your cute little user names and sexy poses, will impact your public image for the rest of your life. So now is the time to start crafting a public image of yourself before you hit it big.
Exude confidence and poise, and definitely have high self esteem, self worth, dignity and respect. No matter if you're a famous celebrity model or an aspiring independent model just starting out, public relations is very important for everyone presenting an image to the public. If you portray yourself in a very sexual, demeaning way, that's how the public will brand you - sometimes FOREVER! So don't use usernames online that make you sound like a one-dimensional sex kitten (unless you specifically want to convey that image), nor emphasize your sexually charged attributes (such as breasts, butts, etc). Your public relations strategy starts right now.

Looking to Get Started in Modeling???
If you're looking to get started in the modeling industry, you've come to the right .. presence. our modeling network has as one of its missions to help aspiring models like yourself get connected to a wide network of fellow aspiring and established models (and modeling industry insiders) without paying money for registration, sign ups, or anything that is not considered best practices in this industry. we do post lots of info on our myspace page, and we have a free sign up at www.samsona.com/faca to get you in our database. so do keep checking our pages (and that of our friends at PlayazWebHottest). To become part of our network, we are exclusive, but we have modeling categories as follows:
1) Classic - Typical tall, lean runway look. Minimum 5'11"
2) Curvy - Show stopper look that, though not the Classic runway look, is still a head turner. Minimum 5'7"
3) Shorty - Models in this category would normally fit the Curvy or Classic categories, but are below 5'7"
4) Hourglass - Plus size models who are curvy and have more weight than Curvy. Not all plus size models are hourglass, so we are selective in this area...
Keep in mind that your photos need not be taken by a professional for consideration for many modeling gigs (especially by the top modeling agency clients), and you should include some photos without make up. Decent lighting conditions help.
