Chris Lanston grew up in a small town in North Carolina. He was a quite kid and has always created images by drawing or painting. Now at the age of 32, he¢s still a big dreamer but this time his dreams are reality! Chris knew that he wanted to be a Makeup artist when he saw the 1996 VH1 Vogue Fashion Awards and from there knew his calling and wanted to make the world beautiful.Lanston credits the legendary Kevyn Aucoin as his mentor and tells us that he gets compared to Aucoin a lot on shoots with people who have worked with him saying that he is just like Aucoin from personality to talent. His client list includes various people and projects to name a few such as MTV, Carrie Underwood, Alan Thicke, My Super Sweet 16, Cuba Gooding Jr., High School Musical Summer Edition, Miss Universe, recording artist and groups: Epiphany, Amanda Pollard, Jenna Westerbeck, Christina Aguilera, Laura Kaufan and Miss United States 2006.If we were to take a peak inside of Lanston¢s makeup kit we would see lots of various things; eyelash curler, lashes and glue, Vaseline, Mason and Mia Cosmetics, and a lot of colorful shadows. Chris also tells us that the best and worst trends in the beauty industry right now are highlighting the eyes with a white pencil and the worst is dark lip liner around the lips.Lanston¢s advice to aspiring makeup artist is to never let anyone tell you that you¢re wrong if it¢s something you are passionate about. Believe, and true talent comes from within you. You don¢t have to go to school for it, you already know.Currently, Lanston is involved with a new up and coming makeup line, Mason and Mia, known as ¡MMC Cosmetics¢ and will also do Ads for them. Also in the works is a new radio show with his partner Melissa Blayton called the ¡Chris Lanston and Melissa Blayton Show¢ where they will talk about beauty and cosmetics in the industry. A project with Ikeda Films featuring lots of well known celebrities that he can¢t speak on at the moment and a reality show featuring himself and Melissa Blayton will also debut.
