Dejay Soul began to exert his musical talent at the age of 11, where he started to play the piano until grade 7. Whilst playing the piano, at the tender age of 14, Dejay Soul began to sing melodies over chord progressions. Melodies and chord progressions soon transformed into songs which Dejay Soul was keen to share with audiences. It was at this age; Dejay discovered that piano was not his only gift, and was advised to take on his new found gift and join a choir. Dejay joined both his classical school choir who also sung in Latin and church gospel choir including worship groups and began to sing. Dejay is still often called in to conduct choirs and give vocal lessons up to this date.
At the age of 17, Dejay Soul began to conduct and play instruments for both choirs. Whilst studying Music A Level Dejay began to pick up the guitar and also sung rock ballads whilst other instrumentalist in the school backed him. The school concerts then became more regular and Dejay performed in all of the shows, performing tracks such as Brian McKnight ‘Never felt this way’ and his own composition called ‘why oh why’. All songs performed by Dejay where accompanied with an instrument played by himself. During this time Dejay also found a new love for producing, he began producing R&B, Garage/Grime, Soul, and House tracks for himself and also for friends.
Since then Dejay Soul has performed in several open mic nights including The Fridge Bar, Lambeth College, St. Joseph’s College’s Christmas concert, summer fair and award nights and he has also gained a BTEC National Diploma in Performing Arts, and is going on to Study Music Industry Management in BCUC.p align=center
