Born May 1988 to an accomplished contemporary- break-dancer;
Dominic-Lawrence ‘Dyzfunktional’ Smith surely inherited the dominant ‘dance gene’. From the tender age of 11 his passion for dance became his chariot, leading him into a physical and mental development well beyond his years.
With a raging desire to increase his vocabulary and understanding of dance, Smith began taking Jazz and Modern movement classes, his early socialisation into the dancers mentality is well reflected through his consistent grace, absorbing everything that his mentors gave to him.
Gaining vital knowledge on posture, balance, symmetry and expression, Smith had built a foundation destined to support excellence and uphold longevity.
Dominic-Lawrence gained beneficial television exposure in UK’s TV hit ‘Bump ‘n’ Grind II’ as a dance finalist –it was then both the UK and Canada were awoken to just how humble one can be when they possess a raw passion.
In June 2004, Smith was signed to Da Vision Entertainment as their chief choreographer, his responsibilities to develop artists by raising awareness of stage presence and performance through expression, style, technique and consistency. Whilst at Da Vision Entertainment, Smith was given the opportunity to develop his own understanding of dance technique and flare, he learnt how to deliver perfection, work under pressure with a team and most importantly, he learnt how to thumbprint his style.

After completing a two year contemporary dance course and securing Grade A merit, Smith soon became ‘Dyzfunktional’;
a character significant of both the natural feeling of movement and more importantly the unconventional quality he is able to imprint upon movement, truly taking a routine from simple choreography to incomparable dance and musicality.
In the summer of 2006, ‘Dyzfunktional’ was auditioned for Key Concerts, leaders in the world of commercial theatre, to become part of the West End production ‘Thriller Live’, a tribute presentation incorporating the most dynamic works of legendary music icon; Michael Jackson. This was a rigorous learning curve by which Dominic-Lawrence was under the instruction of Director/Performance Coach Kerys Nathan of Fuzion X.

Being blessed with opportunity to work at the high end, ‘Dyzfunktional’ has recently completed a European promotional tour with Innate Forte, performed live at the World Music Awards 2006 in a diamond award main event tribute to Michael Jackson, and is now more than ever ready to take his dance career into the next dimension.

It’s not often that the world of dance harbours a celebrity, but with all dues ‘Dyzfunktional’ is just that…be it choreography, dance or direction he is amongst the elite, Dominic-Lawrence ‘Dyzfunktional’ Smith was born to lead, born to shine, born to dance.
