I was born in Guyana, South America and moved to Brooklyn, N.Y. in the early 1980’s. Like many individuals, I grew up religious, but never really knowing God. Much of my life was spent partying, chasing girls and being involved in dangerous demonic practices (traditions, superstitions) that mostly came through my ancestry.
However, I met with Christ in 1997, and he began to bring me out of all that. Almost immediately after my conversion, I fought with what would’ve been a nervous breakdown for the first year of my Christianity. It was a deeply satanic attack, but after that year, I was completely freed by the power of Jesus. I experienced much of the streets and city life and my heart is now to reach people who are much like I was and are probably outside of the church environment. My tool is Hip-hop.
I grew up on Hip-hop and urban music in general; however, I began to rap in 1997 after I got saved. I began to fall under the classification “gospel rapper†and though it is not the popular trend, I am very proud and privileged to be called that. We just completed our album this year, “The Matchsticks Storyâ€.
