(This is not the real Paul Konerko.) Paul Henry Konerko is a 1st Baseman for the Chicago White Sox and is the captain of the Sox. He was born on March 5th, 1976 in Providence, Rhode Island and is currently 31 years old and weighs 215 pounds. He both bats and throws righty and he has been in the MLB for 10 1/2 years (9th year with Sox). He went to High School in Scottsdale, Arizona, but he did not go to College. Paul was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in 1994 and then in 1998 he was traded to the Cincinnati Reds for Jeff Shaw. Then after the 1998 season he was traded to the White Sox for Mike Cameron and has been playing for them ever since. Sometimes Konerko plays the Designated Hitter Role for the White Sox, but very rarely. He has helped the Sox so much in his career and continues to do so starting in 2000 he helped the Sox win the American League Central Division with a 95-67 record overall (Best in the A.L.) for the first time when the MLB made the AL Central Division back in 1994, but in the 2000 AL Division Series the Sox got Swept 3-0 in a best of 5 game series against the Seattle Mariners. Then in 2005 the Sox won the AL Central Division again with a 99-63 record overall (Best in the A.L.) and the Sox in the ALDS swept the defending World Series Champs Boston Red Sox 3-0 in a best of 5 game series. In the 2005 ALCS the Sox beat the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 4-1 in a best of 7 game series. Paul Konerko was also the ALCS MVP. In the World Series against the Houston Astros the Sox swept them 4-0 in a best of 7 game series. The Sox won their first World Series since 1917. Paul Konerko had a huge grand slam that helped the Sox win Game 2 of the World Series taking the lead 6-4 in the 7th and the Sox went on to win 7-6 with a walk off homerun from Scott Podsednik. The White Sox had their first grand slam in the World Series ever. This year in 2007 he helped Mark Buehrle get his no-hitter on April 18th. In 2004 he had a season high 41 Homeruns tied for 2nd with David Ortiz. In 2005 he had a 2nd season high of 40 homers.
