Major League Debut: Aug. 14, 1999 against Oakland. He singled off of John Burkett for his 1st ML hit.Casey's wife's name is Abby (Archibald). They have 3 lovely daughters - Bailey-6, Lauren-4 and Dana-1.
Casey is a 1992 Graduate of Indianola HS where he played baseball (a star 3rd baseman), football (quarterback), basketball and ran track. He was named a top 10 HS athlete in the history of Iowa in a Des Moines Registry in a list that included Bob Feller and Nile Kinnick. At Wichita State University Casey was a three-time All-American, two-time Academic All-American and he participated in the college world series. He batted .360 with 22 homeruns and 101 RBI's his senior year.Casey was drafted twice before being signed by the Toronto Blue Jays. In 1992 he was drafted in the 45th round by Philadelphia and in 1995, in the 11th round by the New York Yankees. In 1996 he was signed, in the 7th round, by the Toronto Blue Jays but did not make his ML debut till 1999. Casey was named the best defensive 3rd baseman in the International League in 1999 by Baseball America. He spent alot of time working hard and playing with different Minor League and Major League teams (Minnesota Twins and Baltimore Orioles) before being signed in Dec. 2002, as a free agent, by the Cleveland Indians. His 1st hit as an Indian came on Opening day (3/31) in Baltimore. In 2004 Casey was a recipient of the Gibbons/Olin "Good Guy Award" by the Cleveland BBWAA Chapter for his professional and courteous manner with the media. He has been active in donating his time to the Grand Slam for Literacy during his time in Cleveland. Casey is also a very avid golfer and duck hunter.Casey is HIGHLY respected by his teammates and coaches. He is a good husband, father, and teammate. He is a VERY HUMBLE, patient, hardworking, dedicated man who is always willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done. I have had the honor of meeting this wonderful man and getting his autograph and look forward to many more opportunities of watching and supporting him in the future.
