Firefly quickly took the music scene by storm, making an initial impact by drawing quite a following to its energetic, live performances. Made up of three vastly different individuals, each bringing their own styles and influences to form a band where all parts feed off one another and play an essential role in the overall sound of Firefly. All three members of Firefly are no strangers to the rock scene, all were parts of former music projects scattered throughout Pennsylvania, California and Chicago, Illinois and all have been playing music in one form or another for over half of their lives.Guitarist/Vocalist Mikey Yurick centers the trio with a strong vocal presence and innovative, inventive guitar "noodling." Bassist/Backing Vocalist Erik Smith forms the rhythm section with resident big hitter/drummer Mike Hodge. Two vocalists combine to maintain Firefly's dynamic range of infectious melodies and unique harmonies.Influentially, the members of Firefly are as diverse as their styles, covering the likes of 80s New Wave, Punk Rock, 90s Rock, Modern Day Alternative, Guitar Rock, Indie, Emo, Motown, R&B/Hip Hop/Rap and Metal. Musically, Firefly draws influences from bands such as Hum, Jawbox, The Deftones and Green Day, just to name a few, but don't limit their styles, tastes or influences to one genre of music.The members of Firefly pour themselves into blistering, live performances, packed full of raw energy, tenacity and emotion. In 2005, Firefly found itself the runner-up in the Rolling Rock Challenge to open the 2005 Rolling Rock Town Fair. Drawing praise for their live performances, Firefly has also created an Internet buzz by being featured on several Internet radio stations and many other forms of media scattered across the U.S. In the winter of 2005, Firefly released its first 6-song untitled EP.Firefly is currently finalizing its first full length CD and merch line for the winter of 2007.
