The Tewlips

Alex Kadet (Vocals/Guitar/Piano) after the completion of his first CD entitled “Tragedy”, realized one day, while listening, that something was missing in his music. The album had been recorded at Grant Avenue Studios in Hamilton, Ontario with a bass player and a drummer and Alex had invested a lot of his own money into making the CD. Though the quality of the sound was far above any recording he had ever done, Alex still longed for something more in the music. It was then that Alex had a revelation. For his whole musical life, he had been trying to do everything on his own, without the interpretation and talent of others. At that moment he knew what to do. He called the drummer Elliott Marshall (Drums/Vocals) and shared his revelation. Together they began to brainstorm a new concept for the band; a band in which every member was equal. Because everyone in the band would be equal, each member would have the freedom to take on the band as their own primary project. Everyone would have opportunities to sing, write and interpret the music without restraint.Now that the concept was there, Alex and Elliott needed to pick their dream band. The two agreed that Corey Brouwer (Bass/Vocals) would bring a strong sense of harmony and a very natural musicality to the band. They were very correct. After a 45-minute phone call with Alex, Corey was fully onboard and ready to go. They also wanted a guitar player with great chops, a great sound and a great attitude. They found what they were looking for in Dylan Matthews (Lead Guitar/Vocals) who became the fourth member of the band after receiving his phone call the very same day.In a very short time, the Tewlips have become best of friends. The music is tight, energetic and comes from the heart. Each of the four would strongly agree that it is the greatest band experience they have ever had. Big things are undoubtedly in store for the Tewlips, and their excitement comes from finding out exactly what those things look like. Dylan said it best one day during a practice. He said, “Even if we never make it big, I’d be happy to get to wake up every morning and play with you guys.” Then Alex added. “Yeah…but why don’t we make it big anyways?”
