Aware. Balanced. Strong

About Me

I am. Letting go and becoming more full through the practice of emptiness. I am. Clear and healing...a healer and a warrior. I am. Lover and Mother. Queen and Common. I am. Central to the cipher and a patient ear that listens in. Always, I am Watching In. I am. Shape-shifting on a balance point. I am. Consistent and committed to being open, seeking that vibration and the strength of the wide open heart. I am. Leading and building and reaching with all of my eight limbs to bring together the community that exists in the hearts of all of us. "And if there come the singers and the dancers and the flute players,--buy of their gifts also. For they too are gatherers of fruit and frankincense, and that which they bring, though fashioned of dreams, is raiment and food for your soul." -The Prophet, Kahlil GibranI was born under Yansa, the Orixa of Wind and Thunder. The wife of Shango and the guardian of the ancestors, bringing the breath of new life.

My Interests

Meditation thru Movement. Dynamic stillness. Alignment of physical and energetic limbs. Ital and Ayurveda. Ras-Tafari! Exploring the rhythms of life and giving thanks to Jah for these blessings. The Yoga...karmic, jnana, raja. Capoeira...angola transforms my heart, regional when i need to play the rudegyal. AFRICA!!!! ....Giving back and building a foundation for the future generation."If disease is an expression of individual life under unfavorable conditions, then epidemics must be indicative of mass disturbances of mass life." -German medical anthropologist, Rudolf Virchow

I'd like to meet:

Artists who understand the difference between individual purpose and collective inspiration, and are open to melding in spirit and resource to build a momentous foundation that can rise up over babylon. Fellow shape-shifters who never felt the four walls of a box...just vibe out. Those who can let go of the thinking and take the path of action....because, "real gangsta no talk, just walk the walk."

Music:

Percussion and wind instruments. I stay struck off those drums. Heavy bass lines and sexy vocals. Hip Hop: Classics and Contemporary Poetry on the 4/4. Afro-beat. House Music...Deep as my past-life lineage. Dancehall and Culture and Lovers rock. Classic Rock and Studio1 Recordings. Jungle. Trip-hop. Samba and Axe and Capoeira music keeps the vibration steady rising.

Movies:

Baraka, this film will blow your mind and re-focus your perspective on global community. Aside from the raw ish....my votes go to loose change, american gangster, secretary, monster, midnight express, rize, Favela Rising, The Great Debaters, The Last King of Scotland, dancehall queen, shottas, scarface, 25th hour, traffic, Blood Diamond. napoleon dynamite, city of god, requiem for a dream, maria full of grace, punch drunk love, mad max, escape from ny, blood diamond hackers, ferris bueller's day off, the princess bride and labrinyth....just to set the pace.

Television:

The Wire is my friday nite date...other than that I couldn't tell you what goes on the box. I don't have patience for celebrity gossip and the matrix that is reality tv. weird.

Books:

The Bhagavad Gita says "When your understanding has passed beyond the thicket of delusion, there is nothing you need to learn from even the most sacred scripture. Indifferent to scriptures, your mind stands by itself, unmoving, absorbed in deep meditation. This is the essence of Yoga." - I believe this to be true and also, that I can seek inspiration and expand my perspective through the written word. I am a lover of all things written, as I have respect for all things wise.

Heroes:

Mary Magdalene. Corina Scott King. Edwidge Danticat. Iyanla Vanzante. My Moms... and all the other bless'd wombyn in my life who have recognized their mistakes and begun to realize their potenial. A powerful woman isn't perfect...just has perspective. Compassion. Understanding. And Passion.
