Meet at 7:30 PM. in Gold Medal Park (by the new Guthrie).
After party 10pm at the Belfry Center (3753 Bloomington Ave).
Entertainment includes Tough Tough Skin, The Transformers, and more!
This will be a sober, all-ages event.
On June 22, the first ever Twin Cities Trans March will take place. We are calling this march…
‹ To demonstrate that we are a significant and growing portion of the LGBTIQ community.
‹ To increase our visibility and presence both within and outside of this community.
‹ To build connections among FTM, MTF, crossdressers, transvestites, drag queens, drag kings, transsexuals, travesti, genderqueers, two spirit, intersex, those with other labels for themselves and no labels for themselves, those who see gender as having more than two options, and those who live between the existing options.
‹ To provide an environment for people to safely explore their gender identities.
‹ To support one another as a community, through all of our varying struggles
‹ To speak out against violence, hate, transphobia, and the oppression of any and all of us under the existing social structure.
‹ To protest trans exclusion and transphobia within the queer community and the Pride Festival specifically.
‹ To build and connect alternatives to the Twin Cities Pride Festival.
‹ And to be fabulous and powerful in the company of others that are fabulous and powerful.
The Trans March is an independent, DIY, community event. We will have our own security and vibes-watchers throughout the march to diffuse any problems that may arise and help make this a safe space for everyone involved. We will also provide a private space at the starting point of the march for people to change clothes. There will be an accessibility vehicle available for those who can’t walk the route. We strive to make this march a safe space for members of all oppressed groups, and are always open any suggestions you have. This is the first of what we hope will be an annual event.
