WELL... IT WAS AN EARLY MORNING OF MAY 31ST.......

I was born , In the city of Sao Paulo in Brasil and was always connected to music. In Brasil we grow up listening to all kinds of music from all over the world. It all started with percussion instruments and voice when i was 9 years young, then came school, then came the first high school band and then suddenly i was playing in Sao Paulo's night clubs and learning from musicians i respect most, composers, singers, musicians of all kind. Things just got better and better after touring, recording and performing with such artists as Wilson Simonal, Elis Regina , Milton Nascimento, Cesar Camargo Mariano , Djavan, Filo Machado, Elza Soares, Sizao Machado, Nathan Marques, Rosa Passos, Luciana Souza, The Boston Pops,Dom Um Romao and so many other great musicians. But after performing and recorded with Elis Regina for almost a year, on the show "SAUDADE DO BRASIL"79/80 IN Rio de Janeiro , i was invited to bring my own band to Tokyo-Japan, so there i stayed for almost 5 years. Leaving in Roppongi, perfoming concerts for the princess of japan, working with Terumasa Hino, Kazumi Watanabe, Toki Hidefumi, and then later on with Ryuichi Sakamoto "SWEET REVENGE" world tour, Live video and cd recorded at Nihon Buddokan {1994}, It was a great experience for me, because was the time i got to meet such great musicians as Jaco Pastorius,Victor Bailey,Omar Hakim, Steve Thornton, Daryl Jones, Eddie Gomes, Onaje Allan Gumbs ,Akiko Iano etc, etc...I remember Victor and Daryl saying to me, Man... you must come to NYC,it will be a great place for you... So I didn't think too much about it, i just decided to go to NY and see what was all that about. They were right !!!, in 85/ i went to NY and i never left. I met one of the greatest piano players in this planet, "Kenny Kirkland". It was magical meeting him,such a special human being, He was very supportive and inspiring , genius.We put a band togetter ,wich was Alex Blake on Bass, and Buddy Williams on drums,man we made some great music for long time. So it was the best introduction of NY to me, also i had the chance to meet Martin Cohen the man responsible for bringing togetter so many musicians with he's remarkable " LP " congas (great inovation in the latin percussion world) Thanks Martin... Then i met one of the greatest rock and roll drummer and guitarrist in this planet Alexander and Edward Van Halen, with wich i've learned so much from. So after that was all a dream come trhu. Musicians like Mcoy Tyner with whom i recorded two cd's"journey" and Infinity, both Grammy winners, Michael Brecker, Astrud Gilberto, Bill Cosby,Toshiko Akyioshi, Tania Maria ,Egberto Gismonti, Jeff'tain'wattz, Toninho Horta, Sergio Brandao, Monday Michiro, Alex Sipiagin, Alex Foster, Victor Jones, Pat Metheny, Nana Vasconcelos, Jerry Gonzales, Jay Rodriguez, Michael Wolf , Paulinho da Costa, Duduka da Fonseca, Richard Bona, Flora Purim, Helio Alves, Jose Neto, Airto Moreira ,Maucha Adnet , Paulo Braga, Hugo Fattoruso, Delmar Brown, Ernesto Simpson, Cidinho Teixeira and the list goes on and on and on... So after Been touring the planet earth few times, i feel very fortunate and lucky in my journey trhu the world.So, i beleive in destiny, it was meant to be i guess, i have no regrets, the gift of music deep inside of me is end less as the message too.My voice and my percussion skills came from the university of life, the streets of Brasil,Tokyo,New York and so...My family is so much part of it. My Mother 'Ivanuza', my father 'Jose' ,my sister 'Vanessa',my brother 'Wilson', and in NY my Daugther 'Ayla', my son 'Ethan' Their mother 'Claudia' and 'Lorraine wohl.' Thouse are the most important people in my life, no matter what.That's "Family.".................All of those things took me to places i've never dreamed of, a new world of creating music. This journey has give me a beautifull life with ups and downs,just like any one else,that's life.Recently i've been leaving in Asia making music with such great musicians as Han Dae Soo, Kang Saneh, Woochang Lee and Song Young Hun. Lots of recordings, videos,concerts, films, sound traks , workshop-Lectures in University's with the amazing Philosopher , Professor Kim Myong Ok {DO-OL} etc...etc...Now i'll try to concentrate on my First solo cd, wich will be a comppilation of recordings i did in the past and present in different parts of our Planet combining world rythms i've learned thru the years... I think it will be a good thing to do.
