TORRANCE AND HOLLYWOOD

About Me

Torrance and Hollywood are a songwriting duo from Glasgow who have been writing songs since 1990. They are currently looking for new Management/Publishers to promote their songs to a worldwide audience.Suburban Blues and The Power Of Love were recorded at the C Sharp studio in Castlemilk with the legendary producers Drew Phillips and Rab Higgins, vocals were expertly performed by Roy Henderson and Ian Walker. The tribute song for Martin Luther King 'The Sun Dont Mind'was recorded on an 8 track in a single end in Dennistoun on a long Good Friday, vocals were recorded by Graeme Tucker. From 1991-1993 Torrance and Hollywood were signed to ISA which has the largest songwriters distibution network in the world!.Sinclair Curdie A&R Manager of ISA described them as "the most promising songwriters to come out of Scotland since Simple Minds". From 1993-1994 they were signed to Carillion Music a division of Sony. After Carillion went into liqidation the duo started to release their songs independently. Accolades have included reaching the final 5 of 10,000 competitors in the Evening Standard songwriters competition in 1990. Joint winners of Different Class record label's "Song for Scotland". Runners up in 1991 at the Bathgate College Music Festival. Reaching the final stages in the song contest during Celtic Connections 1996.Radio play includes sessions on Nevis Radio and Radio Scotland including the Jimmy M'Gregor show and the Tam Cowan Show. John Macdonald of Sunny Govan Community Radio 103.5 FM is without doubt the undisputed legend of the airwaves. John has always been a champion for musicians in Glasgow. The Power of Love was played recently during an interview with Ian Walker on the Morning Magazine show. The duo also appeared on STV in association with The Jane Lewis Fan Club featuring Ian Walker and ex Simple Minds and Propaganda drummer Brian McGee.Their music also appeared in conjunction with The Jane Lewis Fan Club on BBC 1 during the programme Offside. The songs of Torrance and Hollywood have been praised by many people involved in the music industry including Polydor's former head of A&R Feargal Sharkey,Muff Winwood and many others. Many artists including Paul Young and Tony Hadley formerly of Spandau Ballet have shown considerable interest in the duo's wide spectrum of rock and pop ballads!.
