At the age of 14 Konrad was awarded the “Young West Australian Instrumentalist of the Year†and at 15 was accepted into the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) on jazz piano. He graduated from WAAPA at the age of 19 with a Bachelor of Music in 2007 and was awarded the Melville Toyota Scholarship for most outstanding graduating jazz student. In 2008, he was the winner of the Generations in Jazz James Morrison Scholarship, making him the first pianist in the history of the competition to win the prestigeous award. Subsequently he joins the ranks of other Perth musicians such as Matt Jodrell, Troy Roberts, Jamie Oehlers, Andrew Fisenden and Dane Alderson, who are all carving international careers for themselves. He has also been provided with opportunities to play in the James Morrison band, attend the Tokyo Jazz Festival, and study with American pianist Benny Green. Konrad has been featured as the pianist in countless performances with many renowned musicians including Graeme Lyall, Daryl Sommers, John Foreman, Phil Stack, James Muller, Alex Norris (USA), David Campbell, James and John Morrison, Emma Pask, Joe Chindamo, Ben Robertson, Bob Shepard (USA) and has been the support act for the Shelly Berg Trio, Tommy Emmanuel and Marcia Hines. Currently 19, Konrad is endorsed by Yamaha and will be touring with renowned Perth Latin band Descarga mid 2008, as well as featuring in a number of performances over east in late 2008.
