About Me

Artist statement

I once heard a journalist make the following statement about her work as a war-correspondant: "If we are not there to document what the monsters are doing, then the monsters are free to take over.."
Experiences are incorporated in our bodies and brains where they are saved in different ways, some of which we wish to remember, others which we would rather forget. Regardless of whether we forget or want to forget, will our experiences remain and affect us.
I therefore agree with the war-correspondant and employ her statement in a new version: If we don't dare to confront our inner monsters, they remain free to roam destructively and can ultimately take over.
I usually begin by creating a series of objects. The objects are then placed in a certain environment or situation and photographed. Both the objects and the photographs are used as parts in installations.
The materials I use are latex, textiles, bandages, pearls, yarn, plastics, rubber, dried food, etc.
