This music venture has been a long time in the making. I’ve been in love & involved with music since as far back as I can remember, but started mcing between 86-88. I have way 2 many influences that I’ve watched & have admiration 4 that have taught me a lot artistically & what 2 watch out 4 in this industry. Which is 1 of the reasons why I’ve never pursued getting a record deal. I’ve never wanted 2 compromise my beliefs & artistic way of expression to conform 2 what record companies & society considers 2 be hot. I come from a very diverse background & have a lot of different musical influences & interests, which is why I don’t like 2 put a label on the type of music that I do. I’m an individual with my own life’s story & separate experiences. I have a close relationship with my lord & Savior Jesus Christ & he knows me better then any of ya’ll would ever get the chance 2, good & bad. He knows my interests, my personality & my ways, etc.... So I’m not a hypocrite in regards 2 the kind of music that I listen 2 & what I convey through my own music. Everyone in life has a testimony, even before they get saved by Christ. Their life may change, but it doesn’t happen over night. Through out life & different relationships we go through things & I don’t feel like there’s anything wrong with expressing any of these things either. Even if an artist isn’t screaming Jesus’s name in every song that they create. Like any other genre of music, gospel & so called Christian Rap can be in genuine & trendy as well. Like some artist who rap a rag around their head & burn some incense, ANYTHING can become trendy. I think that the The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill & everything from Rakim’s Paid In Full, 2 Don’t sweat The Technique are the best examples of the kind of music that reflect who I am & what I do. Ms. Hill’s album was HONEST, PASSIONATE, SPRITUAL, FULL OF LOVE, PAIN, & LIFE’S EXPERIENCES without having 2 beat people in the head with the same message through out the album, in which some cases may become a bit monotonous. That includes anything from Gospel 2 so called Gangsta Rap, Country, R&B, Reggae, etc... Rakim displayed the example, that if someone is going 2 the right, then you go 2 the left. He exemplified how 2 build your vocabulary & write songs without having 2 curse. He also inspired me on how 2 challenge myself into 2 being open minded & diversified with my writing skills. Over @ll, I walk with Christ before music, anyone, or anything in my life & he knows that already. So that’s good enough 4 me.
