His name is Damien Le’Nard Manley. And coming from a place where soulful sounds and tight vocals is a city prerequisite, he knows music. Born October 29th, 1979 to a singing mother and father. It was no mistake that he tried to make his world grand entrance during a Diana Ross concert (sorry mom, I’ll pay you back for the tickets).
He has the typical church boy, singing in the choir and Grandfather was a preacher story. His days were taken up by hours of music instrument practice, acting classes, lyric writing and anything else that had to do with the entertainment world. Forget what you thought or heard about over night success. From Karma/Karisma Modeling, Freedom Theatre, Performing Arts Training Schools and Overbrook High Schools Music Program, It’s been a long time coming.
Damien has had a few managers and a couple of record deals on the table. Demos were done and shows were put on. The life of a group member wasn’t all the rewarding so, thus the road to a soloist. Vocalizing tunes that invoke thought. Trying to save the world one verse at a time. Some has likened him to, well, no one really. Damien just sings to express and entertain. His style is a soulful pop. And writes lyrics along with his own music production that says something from intimate love to world politics and almost everything in between.
With all the hype about music not being the way it use to be, Damien definitely agrees. He wants to bring back the days when people rushed to hear that latest R&B hit. When songs were made to fill the soul. When music just wasn’t a computer and a midi keyboard (not that there is anything wrong with that). When fans cried about the feeling you’ve given them through song. Justin, you do your thing but, Damien’s bringing music back.
