I was born near Atlanta, Georgia and moved to the mountains of Virginia when I was six. I came to Nevada in 1983, and that's pretty much home for me. I went back to Atlanta for 10 years during graduate school, and I love that city, too. I graduated college with a Bachelor’s Degree in Theater and Art, and I have a Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology. Except for my eight years in graduate school, I’ve worked in the theater in some capacity since I was 7. I’ve done acting, directing, designing, lighting, sound, stage managing, and producing in both community theater and professional theater. One of my favorite pastimes is playing minstrel for a Reno/Sparks based Renaissance Guild called The House of Swindon. Faire songs are seeping into my repertoire quickly and I love it. I also do portraits, mostly in graphite, colored pencil and pastels. I’m working up my portfolio (8 years of grad school will kill the possibility of having a current body of artwork)

MUSIC I’ve been playing music since the age of 7, but have never stepped out to play with others in any real capacity until recently. I never seriously thought it good enough to share. (That was difficult for me for many years. Now it’s your problem.) I play fingerstyle guitar – Folk, Celtic, Blues, Acoustic Rock, and some Classical (Renaissance and Baroque) are the styles I enjoy. The guitar is my favorite instrument to play. I also play – piano, tin whistle, recorder, and I’m picking up the mandolin and harmonica. Basically, I love music and will play around with anything on which I can make a tune. Celtic literature became an interest to me in my senior year in high school, thanks to a marvelous English teacher. I’ve begun learning Gaelic (both Irish and Scottish) and I’d love to find some folks to practice with. I began to realize that many traditional tunes were already in my consciousness. I’m passionate about learning as much about the language and music as I can.

I am currently the festival manager for a month long art and culture festival in Reno and am working more and more with local Celtic arts groups and other local festival and theater organizations. I’m getting back into writing my own music as well as working up tunes for faire and performance and trying to persuade some folks to join in. Fair Warning – I may be putting up some tunes shortly.
