Enslaved Existence

Greensboro street-punk

About Me

..Enslaved Existence is a street-punk/hardcore band from Greensboro, North Carolina. Comprised of Undead Fred (formerly of Vice Scum, SpeakEasy Rumblers, Hexa Vaxcine, and The Mirebabies), Matt Chaos (Eight Over Par/EOP Boys), Matt Massakre, and Joey Infection, they bring to the table a history of socially-aware street punk, and the DIY ethic that only comes from years of experience in the local scene. While staying true to the hard-fast-and-loud credo of '82 style street-punk (GBH, Oxymoron, Reagan Youth), they address social issues untouched by most bands. Politically active both onstage and off (members of organizations like World Can't Wait, and Anti-Racist Action), this band hasn't forgotten the musical kick-in-the-ass that only punk rock can provide. See you in the Pit.
HISTORY OF ENSLAVED EXISTENCE
The band Enslaved Existence started about a year ago here in Greensboro. We started on a note of activism, stressing that it was not enough for people to agree with our message and the things we say on stage and just sing along. People had to stand up for what they believe in. active on and off the stage. The original issue that we took a hard stance on was animal rights, due to the fact that all of us were vegetarians or vegans. We basically all met up at a show in Winston Salem and decided then that it would be cool for us all to get together and jam some time. After that first practice we set it up for a practice every Sunday. Our first song Axis of Evil actually got international attention in the underground Crust Punk music scene, with fans as far away as Japan and New Zealand. The song was also featured on a compilation with some of the biggest names in North Carolina punk. Unfortunately, due to musical differences, the band broke up not too long after it formed. A few months later however, with a re-built line up and a new found energy we started over. The main issue of importance to the band quickly changed to being in a group called Anti-Racist Action, or ARA. Which we had all been a part of before we got together in the band. After working tirelessly to build up a strong set list we debuted at a house show in Raleigh and have had shows being offered up for us to play continuously since then, however we decided that it was more important for us to focus on writing better music for the time being and to finish our album before we start playing too many shows, only agreeing to play a couple of benefits for worth while causes such as Cancer Research and Awareness and the fundraiser show for ARA. But those shows aside, we wont be playing any shows at least until after our demo is completed, if not our album. (Though we recognize the importance of playing shows to promote our album)
