there's more to being warm than fighting the cold~

About Me

i was the guy backstage who told paul stanley there was a lot of you people out there that like to drink vodka and orange juice. he said, "ah aye!"
music. playing it, writing it, recording it, listening to it. see my band, USELESS and my secret superherocool cover band the dead cowboys. i can't imagine life without music. it's the one and only constant i have...that and all of my inconsistencies.
i used to be in a band called riff raff. we did a whole lot of nothing but have fun. that's was the 80s. ouch! then in the 90s i became freaky useless, the space-punk bass player for FLIPP . it was fun. we played at woodstock '99, toured with everclear and cheap trick, ate at the cracker barrel a lot and had trading cards and lunchboxes. paul stanley loved us. he said, "ah right!"
i'm also a freelance graphic and web designer. (isn't everyone? 'cept i actually get paid !)
i find happiness in creating things. i also find happiness in destroying things.
i like animals. god bless and children and the beast, right? and "weird" people. underdogs. people who are themselves without apology and despite what the norm deems worthy. fuck the accepted! i despise the paris hilton generation.
i love 70s muscle cars. actually, mostly everything from the 70s. music, hair, cars, movies. but not the plentiful pubic hair. freedom bush someone once called it...everything but that.
.. ..

My Interests

music. writing, recording, producing, performing, listening, analyzing, discussing, watching. see, i like music!
my motorcycle. go until you run out of gas and your ass is completely numb. get more gas, start to feel your ass, and hit it again.
technology. gadgets, computers, software, video editing. writing and recording music. all good.
travel. love to get away. love coming back. let's go!

I'd like to meet:

johnette from concrete blonde. but i'm afraid i would be as nervous meeting her as she was meeting marlon brando? there's just no reason to take that kind of chance of fucking that up. she's up on a pedestal where she belongs...far out of my reach.
i've met a lot of my rockstar heros. and have found that i prefer to not meet them. although they were all very nice, it takes away a bit of the magic. where's the fun if you get to the see the man behind the curtain?
i'd rather meet behind the scenes people. like the guy who engineered the ziggy stardust album. or one of the PAs on the set of caddyshack. or one of the makeup people from the wizard of oz. people who witnessed, or maybe even helped create the magic, but whose egos aren't in need of constant inflation.i'd really like to meet song writers and musicians of like mind who want to write, arrange and record music. i love helping out new bands with every aspect of their band. music, presentation, album covers, etc... i'm sure i'll get into that more in the future. i won't let one bad apple (pronounced asshole) spoil the whole bunch of bands.

Music:

van halen, kiss, cheap trick, the ramones, queen, ozzy, the sex pistols, concrete blonde, priest, aerosmith, ac-dc, king's x, the beatles, pantera, sabbath, the who, zeppelin, cat stevens, abba, the rolling stones, badfinger, t. rex, the plasmatics, waylon jennings, hank(s), beck, the living end, jellyfish, redd kross, jet, abba, the foo fighters, veruca salt, stp, green day, weezer, the donnas, the monkees, lenny kravitz, radiohead, joan jett, leo kottke, nashville pussy, the replacements, pat benatar, the smithereens, verbow, supersuckers, ufo, self, tom petty...that's just off the top of my head.

Movies:

the wizard of oz, shawshank redemption, pulp fiction, caddyshack, monster's inc., the shining, the exorcist, rock & roll high school, american beauty, o brother where art though?, kiss meets the phantom of the park, amelie, driver 23, napoleon dynamite, fried green tomatoes, fargo, lock stock and two smoking barrels, the royal tenenbaums, and just about every music documentary ever made.

Television:

top 5
the dog whisperer the simpsons (still the best)
the sopranos
the family guy
the office
honorable mention: american chopper, NHRA drag racing, HUFF, deadwood, discovery channel, animal planet, sex and the city, seinfeld, six feet under, all in the family, tex avery cartoons, behind the music...

Books:

on the road with the ramones, and i don't want to live this life, getting the love you want, lobotomy: surviving the ramones, the art of happiness, all the KISS books, self matters...i know, i need to read more.

Heroes:

people who really know what it is to be a friend
people who realize this life isn't just about self
people who help others
people who bust their asses for their kids but never let them know they do
people who do whatever they do the best they can and don't complain
all the people in the world who do their thankless, behind-the-scenes, dirty hands, busted knuckles, stinky, sweaty, bullshit, low-paying, boss-is-a-cocksucker jobs so everyone else can enjoy themselves.
people who get it. and those who help others get it. and most importantly, those who want to get it.
those are my heros.
OH...and cesar millan. damn, he's good!!!
