Cee has been doing his thing for a minute, discovering Hip Hop at age twelve, and he hasn’t looked back since. The early days were a soundscape of West Coast acts, which lead to a love affair with East Coast Hip Hop, inspiring him to give all four elements of the culture a crack. Graf wasn’t really his thing, as school suspensions resulted in his attempts; turntablism didn’t quite work out either, as Cee and his homie DJ Swift had a DJ business back in 2000 that ended soon after; and breaking was something he just didn’t really bother with, as his dancing skills are questionable at best. The mic was calling, and Cee picked up.
Freestyling and writing since the age of fifteen, Cee’s style developed with his taste in music, sticking with stanch underground Hip Hop initially, broadening into pretty much anything by 2004, including house, drum & bass, classical, rock, reggae and Spanish language music. Rhyming with a variety of crews, Cee kicked off with the El-A-Mentz in 2001, working with a young 360 and Shayne Hood. In 2003, Cee & producer/MC Revelino formed a crew by the name of Soul District, which made waves in the scene via their performances at the 50 Cent afterparty opening for G-Unit, Obie Trice and DJ Whoo Kid, and as opening act for Tha Outlawz, while SD’s Da Mixtape created a lasting impression through its release in 2004. He has also worked with some of Australia’s tightest and most respected artists and producers, constantly expanding the resume.
Cee is also an accomplished journalist, writing for respected publications such as Out 4 Fame, Beat, Inpress, The Brag (Brisbane) and Rhyme & Reason, and is still the Senior Writer for www.GrooveOn.com.au . And with his newfound business relationship with Shayne Hood in the entrepreneurial Hip Hop-oriented company Hooded Ink, his business and marketing acumen is about to be tested to the fullest.
With his all-round skills, extensive travels (he lived and worked in Toronto, Canada in 2004 and saw almost half the world in that time), business mind, impeccable flows, tight delivery and relevant and real content, Cee-For is set to be a major force to be reckoned with in Hip Hop in Australia, and worldwide.
