About Me

Y’all ain’t never seen a crew quite like us. United in purpose, yet diverse in style.
More a family of artists than a band, The Movement Fam was brought together less by a similarity of talents than by a shared understanding of what it means to make good music. An understanding that music is more than mechanical adherence to the accepted rules of a particular genre, that expression of the soul is as much about the way words are spoken or sung than what those words are, and that representing you will always mean more than representing where you’re from.
Already a tightly-knit bunch for years, The Movement Fam combined artists Cee & Bekah , Notion and Tommy Gunnz for the first time under a single banner in 2008. Through a collective desire to have their music heard in all corners of the globe (not just their hometown of Melbourne, Australia ), the Fam quickly made strong links in the United States , none stronger than ATL’s DJ Grain (DJ/blogger/weekly columnist on 90.3FM’s The Edutainment Hip Hop Show in Knoxville, TN/all-rounder), who officially joined The Movement Fam in September 2008.
Emcee/singer duo Cee & Bekah combine Soul with Hip Hop in a way that has won fans in many countries and across a variety of scenes. With the third volume of their The Soul Movement mixtape series just around the corner (mixed by none other than Mick Boogie and Terry Urban ) and with debut EP The Precedent and a full-length album in the pipeline, the unique tandem are set to lead the Movement from the front in 2009.
The all-rounder of the crew, emcee/engineer/producer Notion blesses tracks with a soulful tone, buckets of swagger and a slick flow that has earned plaudits from fans and emcees alike. Blessed with an unquenchable work ethic, the charismatic songwriter is set to build upon his two successful mixtapes, It’s My Turn… and World Domi-NoTiOn , with a string of further mixtapes (including On The Corner of Notion & 9th ) and an album in the near future.
The self-proclaimed “Banjo Rapperson”, emcee Tommy Gunnz carries an inimitable cocky style, sowing carefully plotted punchlines among various references, ranging from the truly esoteric to the shamelessly pop-cultural. With numerous appearances across a range of Movement Fam releases to date, Tommy Gunnz looks to finally release his long awaited Garden State Warrior mixtape in the near future.
Signing on to blogger Kevin Nottingham ’s brand new label, HiP-NOTT Records , based out of Miami, FL, The Movement Fam is set to bust open the international music scene in 2009 with a steady stream of solo and collaborative releases, featuring cameo artists from damn near every continent on the globe.
It’s more than a family, it’s a Movement .
