About Me

"Standard-bearers the Starlingtons are at the head of the local country/bluegrass class." -- The Express (Washington Post)

"Not many bands can claim to have played the Kennedy Center and the Black Cat within a couple weeks of each other, but soon local country/bluegrass group the Starlingtons can feel free to tack that feat on its resume. Just a week and a half after playing in the Kennedy Center’s grand and formal foyer for Millennium Stage, the quartet brings its old-timey sounds to the not-so-prim-and-proper backstage of the Black Cat. The band’s members weren’t even close to being alive when many of their influences -- the Carter Family, Hank Williams, the Delmore Brothers -- were around, but the Starlingtons don’t come across as a tribute act. It’s simply good music played by people who just happen to dig music from long before they were born. If you ever wanted to take your grandmother to a show at the Black Cat’s backstage, this would probably be a very good choice." -- Nightlife Agenda (Washington Post)

If ya don’t know, we got a CD available at www.cdbaby.com/starlingtons. Shameless self promotion: this is probably the best CD ever made. It makes a great gift for friends and family of all ages! Babies like to teeth on it, grown ups use it as a coaster & grandmas can rest their dentures on the high quality jewel case packaging. Just wipe clean and it’s like new! I forget how much it costs but if you buy it and hate it I promise I will send you your money back.

Album details: 14 songs recorded live in about 2 hours by the estimable Brendan Canty. There’s 13 oldies and one original on there but there’s probably a couple on there that you don’t know. If you do have a copy, feel free to leave a review on cdbaby for us or a comment here on this page to dupe others into throwing their money away. There’s a sucker born every minute and these sensible shoes don’t pay for themselves! Thanks good people!

Individual member bios have been moved to the bog page, beware all ye who trespass there, it is very boring!
