As is often the case with electro purists, Ryme was drawn to the house music scene because of his feel for rhythm. He started out a drummer, when he was 15 years old, living in his homecountry France. With his band, "les bubars" he rocked a blend of reggae,ska and funk, eventually recording one album before splitting up. Shortly after, France hosted its first rave party, introducing Ryme to techno...a true love found. In 1991 Ryme founded T.H.C and LA RUSH PROD, a creation-spurring collective of young parisians, which allowed collaboration between graffiti artists, musicians, photographers and promoters.(other members included Popay,Ark,Rusher,Totem,Do bass and kooce). Still in 1991, Ryme started hitting the amsterdam and paris club scene, absorbing the music while gathering records. His decks were at home , but soon his needles started to get attention from both the official and the underground party people, especially when he teamed up with Do bass and Xanax in 92-93. They performed live with 3 decks and an MC all over Paris, impressing the crowd and enjoying themselves. But Paris started feeling too small for Ryme and the east-coast techno addict in him felt drawn by the City. He moved in 1994, but Ryme only stayed in New York for six months, quickly realising that he could be more productive further west, in the very european city of San Francisco. 1995 was the year of ouverture for Ryme, progressively blending in the various components of what became his signature style. HipHop, dub, reggae, house, techno, triphop, you name it he nails it ! From this year onto 2001 Ryme played all over town, providing sonar supplies at the endup(viva), 1015 folsom(station RER), the wax lounge, DNA, sound factory, Orange, to name but a few. The european connection was strengthened by Qwistar (@large), a very active and well implanted DJ and promoter, and later by Kevin Spicy with whom Ryme has formed an excellent team at voda since 2004. Every saturday they fill out this upscale vodka-lounge with minimal-electro, a hard to come by sound in this deep-house haven. Since 2001 Ryme slowed down his DJ activities, starting to look into the other side of the industry: producing. First doodling around with keyboards, he now works solely with his computer and software, creating a variety of atmospheres, from minimal electro to broken beat. Inspiration is never far, and though he has enough material for a full album, he feels he's but at the beginning of the process.
