I have been writing music for the past nine years, but in the last two years I have gotten more serious about it. Well, I'm not sure that serious is the right word. If I'm too serious it doesn't sound like much fun. Let's just say more diligent.
I am a member of Portland Songwriters Association and appreciate the opportunity to grow and learn this craft with other talented writers. I would encourage any songwriter to join their local association. It will push you.
As always, being an independent musician and songwriter is crazy and requires an unbelievable amount of time. That being said, I love it and could never give it up. I'm sure you all know; life is a balancing act no matter what you're doing. I am a husband and father as well so that helps me to keep things in perspective too.
I have been playing out at local venues more and more and appreciate all of you who have come out in support. Keep checking this page as I will continue to book new shows. For those of you who have been asking me about any CDs, I'm not sure when I will be in the studio, but I hope it will be this year. For now I will keep recording on my own and getting the music out there for you to hear. Thanks for listening. Enjoy.Matt
