Ronan Baker is an emerging vocalist and multi instrumentalist from the Northwest. He has had the pleasure to share the stage with numerous bands including Aurora, Trevor Davis, Fear of Falling Stars, With Hopes to Harbour and many others. He has also performed at a myriad of venues ranging from the Oregon State Fair to Northwest Christian College. Ronan is well known for performing his own style of acoustic and piano rock and also for his interesting piano driven versions of famous songs by artists such as Johnny Cash, Brand New, and Damien Rice. People often comment on his ability to create the sound of a whole band by himself because he often creates loops of himself when performing live. Ronan is an avid movie buff and believes that films have directly influenced his music by inspiring him to tell stories through his songs. "I really just try to write about anything that is interesting and gripping to me. Somesongs I might sing some wonderfully sappy lovey dovey mush and the next song I'll reference Thomas Jeffersons famous bottles of alcohol (Jefferson 1779 is worth 43,000 dollars today)...I never know what's going to pour out of me next." His fourth self produced album "The Sad Parade" was completed June of 2007 and is a huge source of pride for Ronan. “Recording an entire album completely by myself was extremely stressful and exhausting but I think it helped me tap into the story I was trying to tell better than if I hadn’t produced it myself.†Over the past five years Ronan has been apart of many different musical groups including the nu-metal band Backfire, the hip hop group Identity Incorporated, and Chris Woitach’s Singer Songwriter Ensemble. Ronan is currently completing his bachelor’s degree in contemporary music with an emphasis on recording technology at Western Oregon University in Monmouth Oregon. He has studied privately with guitar master Chris Woitach, Dr. Tom Bergeron, and Dan Sachs and plans to study music for the rest of his life. “Hey Clapton never stops practicing so why should I?â€
"Ronan Baker's music is textured by his unique harmonic style and insightful melodies, blasting through the mediocrity set by years of cookie cutter Mozartian chord progressions stealthily inserted under electric bass lines and acoustic guitars. It's good stuff." - Ryan Eiler, Choir Composer at Western Oregon University
