About the Author:
Sissy D. Scooter is a life-long resident of Hampton Roads, VA. She loves living within driving distance to the mountains and the ocean and is grateful for the beauty that is provided by the outdoors.
Sissy graduated from Bethel High School in Hampton, VA and went on to Christopher Newport University (CNU) where she would graduate with a major in communication studies and a minor in writing. While attending CNU, she worked as a staff writer for the official student newspaper of CNU, "The Captain's Log."
Sissy currently works full-time as an editor/writer for a local company and is a member of The Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) . Sissy decided to take her love of writing and her love of laughter and combined the two, to create a children's book.
Sissy was inspired by her son to write "Funny Faces." This book is about a young boy on his quest to make people laugh, but it also teaches that there is a time and a place for silliness.
Sissy hopes to publish many more children's books following "Funny Faces" and is counting on local support to get this one off the ground. "I don't have a ton of money to invest into advertising, but I will do what I can, with what I have to make this book a success and hopefully a tradition for families for many years to come," Sissy said.
Sissy D. Scooter is a pseudonym that was chosen by the author for her and her brothers childhood nicknames. The
"D." stands for Denise.
