About Me

I'm Dave Webb, author of the humorous SLINKY INKERMANN chapter books for kids ages 8-12 and a serious young adult novella called Amber. I also teach fourth grade in Pennsylvania. A new edition of the first Slinky book is NOW AVAILABLE at www.amazon.com, www.bn.com, borders.com, waldenbooks.com, target.com, and others.AMBER is a serious novella for young adults and adults that tells the fictional story of a troubled young girl who is a victim of domestic violence and neglect. Her unstable home life causes her to suffer emotional trauma. In the end she can only find peace by conquering the scary voices that haunt her. The book is available online NOW at www.bn.com, www.amazon.com, and others. (Just search "amber dave webb" at each site.) A nice review of it can be found at www.yabookscentral.com.I also have contributed to educational books published by The Mailbox, a magazine for teachers. These books, including "730 Journal Prompts," are available at teacher stores across the country. My website is www.slinkyinkermann.4t.com

I'd like to meet:

Friends old and new. Writers, readers, teachers, performers. I'd like to build a fan base for my books here if I can...
..

Music:

Depends on my mood, but I like mostly rock and pop but also some country and classical. As long as it's a good tune, I like it. I used to do entertainment reviews for a local newspaper and covered all genres. In concert I've seen the Police, Rush, Aerosmith, Guns 'n Roses, Bon Jovi, Yes, Asia, Paul McCartney, the Rolling Stones, Santana, Kansas, and dozens more. I also like Pink Floyd, Coldplay, Van Halen, and Journey. Now if I can just get to a U2 concert after all these years I'll be happy.Make a SlideShow at MyWackoSpace.com ..TR

Movies:

Ferris Bueller's Day Off, The Sixth Sense, A Beautiful Mind, Rocky, Napoleon Dynamite (including the indie short version), Rudy, The Patriot, The Natural, Elf, and anything that makes me laugh. Don't forget the Bourne movies (also known as the "How is he going to get out of THIS one" series). I also like foreign and indie films that are good and movies that move me or that come up with something new for a change.

Television:

The Office, American Idol (even though a lot of it is staged and the results suspect), football (esp. college - Go Penn State!), Seinfeld re-runs, The Simpsons, Family Guy, old SNL, the news. (I also like commercials. Sometimes they're insulting, but at times they're better than the shows they are sponsoring.)Here is a Geico commercial with announcer Don LaFontaine, who provided two introductions to our 4th grade podcasts on www.teachertube.com:

Books:

My books! (Slinky and Amber) I like the classics like Old Yeller, Maniac Magee, and Steinbeck, Dickens, and Dahl, just to name a few. I also like biographies of famous people, like Shout! (about the Beatles). Mostly I read newspapers and magazines, though.

Heroes:

God and people who give their time and talent to help others. Also, people who have persevered and thrived after facing adversity.
