I am paying the devil's advocate. Today is payday.

About Me

The world is mine. Chicago dweller in the Pilsen neighborhood who loves life love and the pursuit of artistic activities. Love to travel....have been to Europe, Jamaica, various places in the US. My dog and I bike ride together on the mean streets of Chicago. It is interesting and fun to wear bright colors and flashing lights. He loves to run and I love to bike. It is a good combination. This summer my father and I got to participate in the Richard Petty driving experience. It was a once in a lifetime thing for both of us...and to top it off it was on Father's Day weekend. I will never let him live down the fact that I drove faster than he did! I enjoy city living and cannot imagine the draw of suburban life anymore. There is no way I would want to live where I cannot order a pizza after 9pm or find my favorite Bruno Magli shoes. How do you people survive? I guess there is always e-bay....Love camping, hiking, cliff diving, dying to go skydiving. I really want to go camping at least ONCE this summer!!! I am an amateur photographer and fashion designer who is finding her voice in both arenas with the consummate day job which is actually a lot of fun. My degree is in art history but while studying I found that I was more of a creator than critic. Still can be critical almost to a fault, but I would rather take photographs of graffiti than write books or teach. My absolute love is thrifting--I am a clotheshorse who hoardes shoes and vintage dresses. And, I have also parlayed (that word never gets used enough) my hobby in to a business. I do have to confess that I love when a pair of boots I paid $2 for sells for hundreds (It has happened). My special loves are cowboy boots and couture dresses from the late 60's early 70's. Cowboy boots....my true weakness. Anyone; man or woman; gets 5x's hotter when they wear cowboy boots...something about them that is warm and comforting yet sexy. Aside from that, I would pretty much consider myself a grown-up art school chick. I love thai food...conceptual art and thoughts.....reading REAL books (the ones with words AND NOT supermarket novels)....hate corporate culture......devour fashion mags......dig dive bars......drink scotch......love my family. No, I don't have kids but, I have a dog. He keeps me dirty and loves to go to the dog beach and run around with dogs that are bigger than him. Did I mention crazy. We also make regular pilgrimages to the dog park in Wicker park. Bart sometimes gets into fights (he's kinda like me) and does not like it when other dogs mess with him. Definitely an alpha dog problem but he got it honest. He makes me feel like a grown-up b/c I can't stay out all night or else I'll have pee on the floor in the morning!

My Interests

art, e-bay, hip hop, life, dog, vintage clothing, expensive shoes, overpriced handbags, H2o, fashion mags, scotch, freedom, moving to Canada or Austin Tx, travel, devouring printed material, banning TV from my home, obsessing about my ipod, architecture, reggae, philosphy, intellectual pursuits, creation, creating, photography, thrift stores, needing, wanting, trying to be still.......all in random order.

I'd like to meet:

Prince, my Viking ancestors, Beck,Ben Harper, Pablo Picasso......Cleopatra, Artemnesia Gentileschi, Berthe Morisot, the leaders of the Futurism movement, Da Vinci, Alice Walker, myself in a previous life, Pope John Paul the second so I can ask him what is so wrong with birth control.....my soulmate, your soulmate, anyone's soulmate.....Coco Chanel, Norman Norrel, Balenciaga, your mom....Any artistic human who is creative and forward thinking, knows that W. Bush is the anti-christ and also knows who Basquiat is. Familiar with modern art. Even if not familiar with modern art be willing to learn. So....the people I want to meet are varied and beautifully intellectual....hope you are too.

Music:

Willie Nelson, Tricky, Bjork, the Stones, Lauryn Hill, Bob Marley, Indigo Girls, Emmylou Harris, Beck, Eryka Badu, Sheryl Crow, India Arie, Slick Rick, Sarah Maclachlan, Zap Mama, Lee "Scratch" Perry, Prince, Ben Harper, James Brown, Portishead, Johnny Cash, Alicia Keyes, Outkast, roots reggae, Billy Boyo (RIP),Talking house, Specials, Massive Attack, Neal Young, Tree Thirteen, old 80's Chicago House (the real sheeet, the disco sheeeet, Ten City, frankie nuckles, the sheeeet you could only hear at the Warehouse and Medusas and Shelter and if you knew a dj who would give you a mix TAPE!!!..if you can't remember these clubs and you live in Chicago then you don't hear me...not that crap that they now deem HOUSE)...pretty much anything. If I listen to it and like it, I listen to it more.

Movies:

Garden State, Motorcycle Diaries, Breakfast Club, Less than Zero, 25th hour, Savannah Smiles (cheesy 80's movie that my brother and I used to watch on the first laser discs that were about 18" x 12"--those things were cool) Spanglish, Tron (for the effect not the story line), finding Forrester, Mad Max, American Graffiti (one of the first movies I ever saw), Million Dollar Baby, Urban Cowboy, Flashdance, The Departed, Uptown Girls.... anything that involves an interesting plot with excellent acting very few bloody bodies and even less guns or kicking. No fake boobs, bikini's, lame ass make-out scenes or dumb as guys speaking in broken German/English. As long as my mind is stimulated I'm cool.

Television:

Oprah sucks!!! I really detest Tv and only use it as background noise...don't have cable, don't miss it. The only show I watch regularly are reruns of Girlfriends and Will and Grace. God I love Karen she has the best shoes on earth!!! I will be her someday....
