Brief History
Over 20 years ago Deadhead’s would gather on Thursday nights at Tony’s New Yorker to hear the band No Hobo. As the scene grew they moved to Boston’s. As new players came into the fold and others left there was chaos. And from the ashes rose Xtra Ticket (from these same embers The Noodles arose later). Over the years Xtra Ticket as a band has hosted and jammed with the Dead Ringers, Clan Dyken, David Nelson Band, Bill Nershi of String Cheese Incident, Vince Welnick, and Buddy Strong of Usher.
Description/Philosophy
Xtra Ticket remains to be Arizona’s longest working Jam Band. Their longevity evolves around a simple Grateful Dead Philosophy, we live to jam, and we can’t help but love each other, after all the people that have kept us picking and a grinning are forever dedicated. Working on our thirteenth year, Xtra Ticket selects from a catalog of over 300 songs, never repeating a show, always leaving the limitless possibility for any given song {IT IS ALL ABOUT THE MOMENT}
Original music has always found it’s way into the hearts of the band and their following. From the Don Young classic "Waiting For A Signal" To Dave A’bears "Guitar Face". This band has always been destined to answer the call and rise above the duties of a local Dead band.
Playing outside the box is where magic happens, if you hear a song you don’t recognize, it could be one of our own or something way off the beaten path, either way it’s ours to interpret. We don’t discriminate, we just play and everyone else is left to interpret the dance.
