About Me

Streetcar is a Finnish band that basically tries to make some good tunes. And sometimes we even succeed in this. Which is nice.

Our music is raw, melodic and sometimes rather minimalistic. Subject matters handle mainly the age old classic subjects: love or the lack of it. Sometimes the song tempos are rather slow, sometimes they go through the roof. Acoustic guitars make frequent apperances. Sometimes the band rock out and sometimes sound very fragile. And that's how it goes...

Band's sound is retro-ish but influences span at least four decades from the 60's to the new millenium. Main thing is to create intensive mood-filled music, to either move listener's heart or ass (heart-section dominating at the moment). Bla bla bla etc. It's music and rather good music. We like it.

Formed: 2003 in Helsinki, Finland
Line-up: The standard 2 x guitar, 1 bass, drums, occasional keys & percussion. 2 singers (rather good ones).
Genre: Erm, indie? Without many noisy guitars but not very 'twee', either. Tendency for melodic stuff. Strong country & new wave -influences, too.
Influences: from Neil Young to Interpol and most things in between

About the songs here:
I Want To Make You Feel Better, Satellite Town & This Modern Life are live studio demos from our, erm, album pre-production (heh!) session in November 2006. Totally live, raw-ish, one take, unedited, not mixed afterwards, here-we-go-mistakes-and-all kind of performances.. Here to display some of the new material that we're gonna play in our forthcoming gigs. These are not an "official" demo tracks, just live tracks, ok? Still a work in progress but getting there, getting there...
Galvatron is from our older "real" demo recorded in early October 2005.

See our website for more mp3s and other stuff.
