Standing Room Only began as a 3 piece "jam band" in November of 2004. At that point, Tyler was singing and on bass, Andrew was on drums, and another guitarist was playing lead. In the beginning, their main focus was to cover as many songs as possible to play at small parties and shows, with the intent on hopefully one day to write and play their own songs. In March of 2005, Andrew's friend Dan came and started playing with SRO for fun. It was then that the startling discovery was made that Dan could sing, even better than Tyler could (but we still love him in the strictly platonic way). Dan was asked to join Standing Room Only, which he agreed to, now making the band a 4-piece. After playing one small show, however, SRO underwent more changes when their original guitarist left them in June 2005 due to a conflict of musical taste.
SRO continued on as a 3 piece, and started to write their own songs in July of that year (a 2 song demo was released by the band in early August). Throughout the rest of the summer as well as the fall and winter, SRO played many local shows and parties. During this time, the band continued to practice and write new material. By the end of December 2005, SRO was ready to record a debut CD. Although the CD was very low budget in the truest sense (it was recorded in Tyler’s basement), SRO was happy with the end product (and their fans seemed to like it as well): a 10 song CD entitled “Stack the Chairs.â€
Summer 2006 saw the release of Standing Room Only’s second full-length project entitled “Start a Riot.†The CD featured, again, Standing Room Only originals. Throughout the fall and winter of 2006 SRO continued to play more shows, including a benefit concert in January of 2007. Thanks to that benefit show, SRO was able to release their first live album entitled “Standing Room Only: Live in Coatesville.â€
***In January 2008, SRO saw the release of their first professionally recorded EP album entitled, “One More Time.†The album is a tribute to SRO’s dedication as a band even with two of its members away at college. It features four tracks: I Never Thought I’d Wish I Were In Idaho, Panic, Sweet Decline, and Fill In The Blanks.***
A young, relatable, energetic band, Standing Room Only is loved by their fans and not a stranger to drawing more fans. SRO is certain to put on an excellent show regardless of where they play, whether it be a basement show at a friend’s house or a serious venue. Standing Room Only is a group dedicated to music and absolutely in love with playing live, and will undoubtedly put on a great show wherever they’re asked to play.
